Yesterday, His Excellency Muse Bihi Abdi, the esteemed President of the Republic of Somaliland, graced a momentous ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Ministry of Education and Science Center. This joyous occasion celebrated the completion of 130 newly constructed educational facilities, filling the hearts of all attendees with pride and delight.
The event brought together esteemed officials from the Ministry, including Director General Mr. Abdirisaaq Jama Noor (Nakhude), who expressed their unwavering support for education. Distinguished speakers, such as Prof. Saleebaan Dirir Abdi, the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Diriye (Toorno), the Minister of Education and Science, and Dr. Saad Ali Shire, the Minister of Financial Development, also delivered notable speeches. They highlighted the immense significance of education and applauded the nation’s achievement in constructing these new facilities.
In his address, President Bihi commended the Ministry of Education and Science for their exceptional organization and efficient time management during the ceremony. He further encouraged other ministries, local governments, and independent institutions to draw inspiration from their exemplary work. The President also praised the Ministry’s efforts in promoting vocational skills, which have enabled students to pursue successful studies abroad in various fields like livestock, agriculture, construction, and services, aligning with the country’s developmental goals.
President Bihi underscored the government’s significant investment in the construction of these educational buildings, with a total expenditure of 6.5 million dollars, of which 4.5 million dollars were generously contributed by Somaliland. This financial commitment reflects the nation’s growing strength and unwavering dedication to education.
Regarding the issue of inflation affecting the country, the President assured the public that swift measures would be taken to address this concern. He emphasized the government’s diligent efforts, in collaboration with economic partners, to combat inflation and curb illicit financial practices. The President revealed ongoing consultations with major companies and banks, signaling a united front in tackling this challenge.
