President Bihi Lays Foundation Stone for New Waheen Market

His Excellency, President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, yesterday laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the government-owned part of the Waheen Market. The market will be rebuilt as a modern building that will improve the beauty of the capital and the safety of the property stored there.

Mr. Derrick Shiba, on behalf of the INYATSI company that won the construction of the Waheen Market, confirmed that they will build a quality building on time, and briefly explained the type of construction they will implement.

Sheikh Abdirisaq Hussein Ali Albani, the Minister of Religion and Endowments and chairman of the Waheen Market Reconstruction Committee, spoke at the foundation stone laying ceremony yesterday. He thanked the president of the nation for the support he showed the committee during their work. He also spoke about the different steps the committee took to lay the foundation stone for the market.

President Muse Bihi Abdi, speaking at the ceremony, said that the nation is recovering from the fire disaster in Waheen. He reiterated his earlier commitment to rebuilding the market. Bihi congratulated the General Committee of the Waheen Market and everyone else who contributed to rebuilding the market. He also expressed his gratitude to the engineers who were the heart of this project.

After laying the foundation stone, the president personally inspected the various parts of the market.

President Bihi Expresses Sympathy Over Jigjiga Fire

President Bihi expressed his deepest sympathy to the people of Jigjiga and their government over the devastating fire disaster. He spoke to H.E. Mustafe Muhammed Omar on the same morning, assuring him that the people and government of Somaliland share in their grief and loss, and will do everything in their power to help the victims recover. He also sent a committee of ministers from the Ministry of Information, Planning and Communication and Technology to Jigjiga to assess the situation and provide assistance.
