The 94th session of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, chaired by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Musa Bihi Abdi, discussed various issues related to the current state of the country.
Prior to the start, the Minister of Finance Development and the Chairman of the economic committee of the Cabinet, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire, who spoke there, informed the Cabinet about the economic situation in the country. He said that the committee has taken several measures to combat droughts and manage the inflation in the country such as reducing gas prices as well as electricity to ensure that the average citizen can afford the day to day necessities.
Similarly, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Sheekh Abdirisaaq Hussein Ali (Albani), explained to the cabinet the national policy of the Zeka register which was distributed to the cabinet, noting that this policy is the key to ensuring that the poor receive continuous assistance to meet their needs.
Afterwards, the Council entered into a discussion about the drafting of the Cultural Leadership Act, which was officially approved by the Assembly on Thursday.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, explained the content of the act and pointed out that it is aimed at creating a common understanding regarding the etiquette, respect and conduct of the cultural leaders. It is also to establish a system of office and the duties, conditions and structure of the cultural leaders, in accordance with Islam.
Finally, the President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Musa Bihi Abdi, after a long discussion and deliberation, voted for the drafting of the Cultural Leadership Act. The Cabinet Ministers passed it by a majority vote as 33 members voted for it while two abstained.
