The incumbent president of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi has officially inaugurated Berbera Economic Free Zone Project in a glitzy ceremony held at Maansoor Hotel, Hargeisa.
The dramatic launching ceremony attracted distinguished guest from Deputy DP World Chairperson, Mr Suhail al Banna, ambassadors from the neighboring countries and other dignitaries from the government of Somaliland.
In his remarks, the Deputy Chairperson of DP World avowed that without a shadow of doubt, Somaliland will benefit from the underway project of economic free zone. Located next to the port, it will support the growth of Berbera as a regional trading hub and generate jobs. Mr al Banna also stated that his company is in pursuit to make Berbera a maritime hub.
Reiterating the need to economic growth, president Bihi said, “We believe that Berbera Port Free Zone could bring about economic growth and will generate jobs.”
President Bihi further went on, “To implement such a great project we need to meet rigid infrastructure, electricity, roads, and other necessities for the visitors coming to Somaliland. We also need skilled and professional Somalilanders that could handle such vast projects and joint ventures.
